Semper means “always” in Latin. Boo Beckstoffer was born on a Marine Corps base and grew up with the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fideles (Always Faithful) all around her. During their courtship, Boo signed her love letters to Tuck simply Semper. In return, Tuck wanted to give Boo something she could have for “always”. As a farmer, a gorgeous Chardonnay and an enduring Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast seemed the appropriate gesture.
Fort Ross Vineyard
Approximately 80 miles north of San Francisco and seven miles north of the Russian River, The Fort Ross Vineyard is one of California wine country’s most unique and respected vineyards. It consists of 32 distinct vineyard blocks on coastal mountain ridges rising between 1200 and 1700 feet above sea level, less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean.
During the growing season the vineyard is almost always in bright sunshine during the day, yet subject to the cooling influence of the fog that often hugs the coastline. Temperatures rarely drop below 55 degrees or rise above 85 degrees, thereby creating the ideal conditions for the slow ripening which brings elegant flavor development and excellent balance.
